Six Session Programme of Supervision
Why A Structured Programme of Supervision
For coaches who want to go beyond reflection into reflexivity — and grow in how they think, not just what they do.
This six-session programme offers a different kind of supervision experience. It’s designed to support you in engaging with your current coaching challenges while also developing the deeper thinking capacity that underpins presence, ethical maturity, and the ability to work with complexity.
Who is it for?
A structured approach may complement your existing supervision or offer a structured introduction if you’re starting to develop your reflective practice. Whether you’re newly accredited or an experienced coach, this programme invites you into a critically reflexive learning process, one that moves beyond “what happened?” to explore “what’s shaping the way I see this?” and “who am I becoming through this work?”
This programme is for any coach, regardless of experience, who:
- Is curious about what’s shaping their coaching practice at a deeper level
- Wants to explore their identity, worldview, and assumptions
- Feels ready to engage in meaningful inquiry and be stretched in their thinking
- May already have a supervisor, but is seeking a focused developmental experience
- Or is new to supervision and drawn to a structured, time-bound format
If you’re asking questions like “What kind of coach am I becoming?” or “What’s influencing the way I think and act in my practice?”, this programme offers a space to explore them.
Why this programme?
Reflective and reflexive practice both support coach development, but they serve different purposes.
Reflective practice helps us make sense of what happened, improve our techniques, and apply what we’ve learned. It’s often associated with CPD and helps refine our existing frame of reference.
Reflexive practice, in contrast, supports CPPD. It asks us to examine how we make meaning, challenge our assumptions, and stretch our perspective. It’s about shifting not just what we do, but how we see, think, and are.
This programme is designed to bridge both, with an emphasis on reflexivity, enabling meaningful development in who you are as a coach, not just what you know.
Why a structured programme?
For some coaches, a clearly defined programme is easier to commit to than ongoing supervision. This six-session arc gives you:
- A clear beginning, middle, and end
- A cumulative structure that supports depth
- Space to pause and explore who you are becoming as a coach
- Pre- and post- session activities to integrate learning for further reflection
- The option to continue supervision afterwards if you wish
The Structure: A Six-Session Developmental Journey
The programme draws on my evidence-based model of supervision, grounded in adult learning and development theory. It’s iterative, responsive, and rooted in your real coaching context, designed to support growth through experience and enable intelligent, values-led action.
It may complement your existing supervision or offer a structured introduction if you’re starting to develop your reflective practice. Whether you’re newly accredited or an experienced coach, this programme invites you into a critically reflexive learning process, one that moves beyond “what happened?” to explore “what’s shaping the way I see this?” and “who am I becoming through this work?”
- Considering the Experience (Pre-session)
Before each session, you’ll reflect on the issue(s) you want to bring — and why they matter. This preparation helps connect day-to-day dilemmas to your deeper developmental journey.
- Being Reflective (Sessions 1–3)
We’ll explore the story behind your coaching challenges — the external systems at play and your internal responses. You’ll begin to notice patterns, blind spots, and moments of insight.
- Becoming Critical (Sessions 4–5)
Here, we look at how you’re making sense of experience. We challenge fixed assumptions, explore your narratives, and invite broader perspectives — not just to shift behaviour, but to expand how you think.
- Moving to Action (Session 6)
We consolidate your learning and explore how new insights are already showing up in your practice — and what you want to build on next.
