Academic Coaching
‘Working in a brain friendly way to play to the strengths of your thinking style.’
Why Academic Coaching
You have already demonstrated your intellectual capability when you undertake a professional certification or postgraduate degree. This type of qualification requires effective learning and self-management strategies as you navigate the competing demands of your career and personal life.
Academic coaching focuses on using your thinking style strengths to sustain motivation and develop the mental toughness necessary for the commitment and effort required for success.
What I offer
An understanding of what you are going through
I liken the challenges of studying for professional credentials and postgraduate degrees while managing the demands of career and family to running a marathon. If, like me, you are neurodiverse, then it’s like running a marathon dressed as a rhino.
Deep insight into what it takes to succeed
In addition to understanding what is required based on my experience, I have been a tutor, lecturer, assessor and a marker for examination boards. This gives me a 3600 perspective on what is needed to pass an exam and submit the required standard of written assignments and portfolio work.
Innovative, creative and pragmatic strategies to deal with
the issues you face
I am a learning and development specialist, but I also have a background in counselling psychology, which gives me an appreciation of the psychological aspects of academic and professional study. This allows us to work together to address academic and personal issues.

Working Together
The starting point is a conversation to explore your professional study expectations and what you need to consider regarding the personal factors that may influence your studies. This will clarify what you need regarding strategies to enhance your study experience and how we could work together.
My approach
Numerous excellent coaches will support you with academic writing and many free resources for writing groups and hubs (link here to why associates). My approach is more holistic.
How we work together depends on your individual needs. Often, three sessions are sufficient to address a particular issue. Alternatively, you may seek a coaching programme to provide ongoing support, challenge, guidance, and feedback.
Working with Elizabeth was such a fantastic journey, and I learnt so much from the experience—I probably hadn’t realised just how much until I captured this in my reflective piece and then subsequently received the feedback from the assignments. I was blown away by the marks, achieving 70% and 75% for the different bits of work. That wouldn’t have been possible without your honest and candid support and challenge, for which I will always be grateful. Thanks once again for your expert guidance and role modelling.
Sarah (MSc OrganisationalBehaviour)
Elizabeth quickly enabled me to develop a real understanding and clarity around the academic challenges I faced. She has the unerring ability to quickly tune into not only the true essence of what is being discussed but also the right approach and frame of reference to help think through the issues in a productive way.
James(MA Human Resource Management)
Elizabeth has coached and mentored me through my ICF ACC journey. She has been an incredible support. Her feedback and observations have helped me reflect on and develop my coaching practice. She is professional and passionate about doing the right thing. She has thought outside the box to enable me to access further development and has encouraged me to access CPPD, which has added value to my practice and opened my learning mindset.
